Kid Calls 911 On The Grinch And Police Responded In The Most Adorable Way
By Mustafa GatollariNov. 8 2018, Updated 12:43 p.m. ET
5-year-old TyLon Pittman didn't want to take any chances this Christmas when he learned about an evil green furry man who is determined on destroying the holidays.
Yes, I remember my first time learning about the Grinch. I mean, I didn't celebrate Christmas as a kid, so I wasn't afraid he'd come and ruin Ramadan or anything, but I still remember thinking it was pretty messed up that one dude hated happiness so much he wanted to screw over a bunch of children.
Apparently, so did TyLon, so he did what any rational human being would do in today's society when they are posed with a threat: he dialed 9-1-1.
This kid is not messing around when it comes to the Grinch. TyLon Pittman may have saved Christmas for the city of Byram. See the rest here: https://t.co/yxPcNgk5ET pic.twitter.com/9F14m1r85q
— Therese Apel (@TRex21) December 18, 2017He expressed to the dispatcher that he wanted to make sure police were doing everything in their power to ensure Christmas was safe from the clutches of the Grinch. When Byram police officer Lauren Develle caught wind of TyLon's adorable call (cute news spreads fast), she decided to go the extra mile to put TyLon's fears at ease.
"Our dispatcher posted a status on Facebook that she had received a call from a little boy ... and he told her he thought the Grinch was going to be coming to steal his Christmas. I asked her to send me his address."As it turns out, Develle's a pretty huge fan of the Grinch, and was even called Cindy Lou Who growing up by her close friends and family. It was her father's favorite holiday movie growing up and her dad would don Grinch pants every single Christmas morning, so TyLon couldn't have gotten an officer who really understood the mind of such a calculated Christmas criminal better than Develle.
TyLon's older brother, TeDera Dwayne Graves, was visiting home after four years of being in the Air Force. He caught his kid brother's interaction with Develle on video and shared them on Facebook.
TyLon showed online videos of the Grinch to Develle so she could get a better idea of who she was looking for and it's just about the most adorable interaction you'll ever see.
Develle promised Tylon that the Grinch won't steal Christmas from their house while TyLon promised her that if he catches him snooping around, he's going to call the cops so they can take the big bad meanie to jail, but he isn't opposed to making a citizen's arrest either.
"I'm going to say put your hands behind your back and get down on the ground, then when he gets on the ground, I'm gonna say, 'Why are you stealing Christmas?'"TyLon says he wants to become a cop when he grows up and thanks to Develle, it looks like he was able to have one of his first training exercises. Thanks to the Byram Police Department, it looks like they were not only able to orchestrate an arrest of the Mean One himself, but maybe teach him an important lesson about caring for others on Christmas.
Awesome: 5-year-old TyLon Pittman, who wants to be a cop, called 911 because he thought the Grinch was coming to steal his Christmas.
An officer visited the home, and had TyLon help her arrest the Grinch.https://t.co/zkGG7RumGC pic.twitter.com/tDvafGL3YY
